Where does the boat pick up?
See the map on our Contact Us page.
Why choose a captained tour or charter over renting a pontoon?
You can charter the whole boat for around the same cost as renting a pontoon, plus you will have a local captain to do the driving and take you to all the best spots. Florida's laws are very strict for Boating Under the Influence, so sit back and relax and have a drink while we do the driving.
What do I need to bring?
You should bring whatever you would normally take to the beach, including sunglasses, sunscreen, beach towel and your favorite drinks/snacks.
Can I charter a boat for just my family?
Absolutely! You can charter the whole boat, or multiple boats for any of our tours at the charter rate. This is a great option if you would like to have a more personalized tour.
Will I get seasick?
Although seasickness is rare it can happen. Everyone reacts differently to being on the water, so we suggest taking an over the counter motion sickness prevention medication if you are worried that you might get sick. We always keep extra on board for customers as well.
All our vessels are multihulls, which means they have less motion, run flatter and handle rougher water better than single hull boats.
Do you have a bathroom?
Our fishing catamaran does have a marine head for those longer trips.
Do you have life jackets?
We will have plenty of life jackets for everyone on board. Children 6 and under are required to wear a life jacket while underway or in the water.
What type of marine life will we see?
Depending on the type of tour you choose, we regularly see dolphins, sting rays, manta rays, sea turtles, bald eagles, herons, egrets, pelicans and various fish. If we get lucky, we might even spot seahorses while snorkeling!
Can we pet, feed or swim with dolphins?
We all love to see dolphins but touching, feeding or harassing them is against the law. They will often times swim right up to the boat, or even jump in our wake to give you some great photo opportunities. If you're in the water and they swim near you, don't worry, they are naturally curious. They will often times have young ones with them, so please give them some space, they are still wild after all.
What is a customary tip for captain and crew?
Customary tips for the service industry typically range from 15-20% of the trip cost(similar to a waiter in a restaurant). Tipping is never required, but if you have a great experience and wish to leave a tip for the crew, it is always appreciated.
Can I bring alcohol?
Yes, of course! Anyone 21 and over can sit back, relax and have a few drinks since you will have an experienced captain to do the driving. Cans are preferred over glass bottles for safety.
Can I wear shoes on the boat?
On our fishing catamaran, we suggest shoes with non-marking soles and good traction since the deck can get a bit slippery.
On the pontoons we have textured floors on the decks to prevent slips, so the choice is yours to wear shoes or go barefoot.
Do you provide fishing rods, reels and bait on your fishing trips?
Yes, we provide top of the line new equipment rigged for the species we will be targeting.
What if I don't have a fishing license?
We have you covered! You can fish under our charter fishing license and don't need to buy one separately.
What if there's bad weather?
Lazy Lizard does not operate in unsafe conditions, but some light chop or a passing shower won't stop us from having a great day. If there's dangerous weather such as lightning, high winds or dangerous boating conditions, the trip will be postponed or cancelled at the discretion of the captain and you will have the option of rescheduling or a refund.
Can I bring a cooler?
Yes, but to save space, smaller soft sided coolers work best if you wish to bring your own. We do provide large coolers and ice, so feel free to use ours!
Do you provide food or drinks?
We will provide bottled water and a cooler for your enjoyment. Feel free to bring any of your favorite snacks and drinks.
Do you provide snorkel gear?
We provide snorkels and masks in various sizes, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
What is your cancellation policy?
All trips cancelled with at least 120 hours notice will receive a full refund, but we also offer trip insurance for those last minute cancellations.
What is not allowed?
Illegal substances are not allowed. The Captain may refuse service to anyone who is under the influence of illegal substances or arrives unduly intoxicated and is deemed unsafe to be on the boat.
Can we design our own tour?
You sure can! If you charter one of our boats, we will work with you to design the perfect tour.
Are your captains licensed?
All our captains are licensed through the USCG, have first aid certifications and are enrolled in independent drug testing consortiums.
Do you operate in the off season?
Yes, we offer tours year round.
Do you cater to bachelorette trips or wedding parties?
Absolutely! We love having private parties charter with us. We will work with you to provide the perfect outing for your group.
How many people can we bring?
Each of our vessels are allowed crew and 6 customers max. Have more than 6 in your group? No problem, we have multiple boats that can accommodate!
Are we guaranteed to see dolphins?
Dolphins are wild creatures and are always on the move. While we can't guarantee dolphin sightings, we make every effort to make sightings possible plus we love to see them too!
To increase your odds of seeing multiple dolphins, we recommend chartering a longer trip in our faster power catamaran and we will have access to many more places in the time allotted.
Can I smoke on board?
Smoking is permitted on all our vessels, but please ask the captain for the best location and be mindful of the other passengers.
I wish to snorkel but what if I can't swim?
Anyone who is not a strong swimmer can still have fun in the water! Please let your captain know your swimming ability and your comfort level in the water and they will provide you with a life jacket and assist you in the water as necessary.
What if I don't want to snorkel?
No worries, there's plenty of other stuff to do on the Lazy Lizard!
We supply water toys, Lily Pad and paddle boards you can use, or just relax and get some sun while listening to music.
Is there shade?
Yes, all of our vessels have plenty of sun protection so you have the option of enjoying the sun or relaxing in the shade.
